Apple

Origin: The Apple tree was originally indigenous in the West Indies.

Range: Today distributed throughout all of Europe with the exception of Northern Europe and in West Asia. The trees generally have small diameters and are almost always strongly twisted, too.

Properties: It is most difficult to differentiate between the sapwood and the heartwood. The sapwood is reddish brown, the heartwood being reddish to red-brown. The wood often has pith flecks, but hardly any sheen.

Apfelbaum

Ursprungsland: Der Apfelbaum hat seine ursprüngliche Heimat in Westindien.

Vorkommen: Er ist heute über ganz Europa, mit Ausnahme von Nordeuropa, und in Westasien verbreitet. Die Bäume haben meist nur geringe Dimensionen und sind zusätzlich fast immer stark drehwüchsig.

Eigenschaften: Splint- und Kernholz sind nur schwach unterschieden.Der Splint ist rötlichbraun, während das Kernholz rötlich bis rotbraun ist. Das Holz hat oft Markflecken und glänzt kaum.
